Chester Catogge |
While at B & W Bakery in Hackensack on March 22, 2017, I noticed this man’s hat and asked if he had gone to Hackensack High School and when and where he served. Chester Catogge said he had gone to Hackensack High School until 1945 when he left before graduating to join the Marine Corp. He rose to the rank of Sergeant while serving state side from 1946 to 1948 when he left as a reserve. Four days before his status as a Marine reservist was to be up, the Marine Corp called him back to active duty during the early stages of the Korean War. From 1950 to 1951, Chester Catogge served state side at Camp Lejeune during this time. Today, he belongs to the American Legion Post 170 Rochelle Park, New Jersey. Written by: |
